If alcoholism is a disease, why can’t it just be cured?

Although there are medications used in treatment of the symptoms related to alcoholism, there is not a “magic bullet” that cures this disease. Alcohol addiction is complicated, and is meshed with both physical and psychological issues. All problem areas that are unique to each patient must be closely addressed, in order for alcohol treatment to be a success.
