My loved one says he is too busy for treatment, what do I say?

This can be a very difficult conversation to have with a loved one.

Being too busy to get treatment may actually be the addict’s way of denying the problem, or expressing fear that they have lost control.  Ultimately it is their choice to begin treatment.

Being supportive and helping them find the information they need to begin treatment is a way that you can help.

Most importantly, you need to take care of yourself. Remember that support is available to you and other family members, so that the addiction doesn’t continue to affect your own physical and emotional health.
