I have relapsed over and over, so can I really recover this time?
Relapse is a frustrating and potentially devastating problem for anyone who is battling with their recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. But recovery is possible. “Falling off the wagon” isn’t as simple as using once more, or taking one more drink. Relapsing is an indicator that more help is needed to change persistent negative behaviors, avoid trigger situations, and receive medical management to treat other problems that contribute to relapse. Treatment for the addiction must be ongoing, to whatever degree is required at any particular time in a person’s life. This active and ongoing process is what will help avoid relapsing again in the future.
